Eagles Camp · East Meon, Hampshire

Twenty-seven hours away from the phone, and the business. Time to win the war in the mind. With other men in leadership. Nobody selling, nobody judging.

The conversation that is not happening anywhere else.

Alongside me, and other men doing the work of initiation.

Nothing.

Why it exists

In Afghanistan, I sat across from a suicide bomber.

He had been handed a story about who he was and why he was here… and almost died for it.

It took me fifteen years to understand why that conversation mattered. I had spent my whole life operating on beliefs that were untrue.

Because I too had been brainwashed, tricked and manipulated.
First as a child, then as a soldier and finally as a founder.

Today I work with founders to uncover the truth about who they really are and why they are here. Together we discover what they are truly capable of at home and in business.

I do it without manipulation.

In their words

Men who have been.

“Not only did I have an incredible time, made some exceptional connections and relaxed my mind and body. One conversation at Eagles Camp saved me £16,000.”

Friday, eight in the evening

The fire session.

The fire is the place I discovered what was true and what was not. What was serving me and what was not.

After dinner, once the fire has settled, it gets real. It opens with a talk I give called Conversations With a Suicide Bomber, about that interview and what it showed. No slides, no notes and no handout. Then it turns into the thing the whole camp is built around.

Men say what is actually going on. Things that have not been said out loud before. Things that need saying. No judgement from anybody, and no advice.

This is the part men talk about afterwards. Sitting there and understanding, properly, that they are not on their own in it, and that there is nothing strange or unusual about what they are carrying.

Deep connection with other men, which lasts long after the camp is over.

The standard

Eight rules everyone agrees to.

Every man signs up to these before he arrives. They are the reason men say things at this fire that they have not said anywhere else, and I enforce them.

  1. 01Nothing is soldNobody sells anything to anybody, at any point.
  2. 02It stays hereWhat is said at the fire is not repeated afterwards.
  3. 03Nobody gets fixedSay what happened to me. Do not diagnose the man opposite.
  4. 04Questions before adviceAsk first. Advise second, and only if asked.
  5. 05No showing offNo job titles, no track record, no highlight reel.
  6. 06No phonesHanded in at the start, given back at the end.
  7. 07No drink, no drugsEveryone stays clear-headed the whole time.
  8. 08Look after the landEverything that comes in goes out again.

Who comes

Men in the same position.

Men who own a business that works. There is a team running the day to day, the numbers are fine, and it has gone quiet at the top.

Everyone who really understands the business is on the payroll. The people at home should not have to carry it. So it gets carried alone, and that is the part nobody talks about.

This is not coaching, and nobody here is treated as though something is wrong with him.

“If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.”
African proverb
  • Owns the business, and has outgrown the way it is being run
  • Has a leadership team underneath him, which is what made it quiet
  • Has decisions coming about money, succession or selling up

The guests

Two guests come to each camp.

They are not speakers and there is no stage. They walk, eat and sleep outside with everyone else, they stay the whole time, and they are there to be asked anything.

Tim Meadows-Smith

Investor, K2 Business Partners

Wrote the plan that launched Häagen-Dazs ice cream in Britain and eight other European countries. Since then, eighteen years of turning failing companies round, working with owners of businesses worth £3m to £20m.

Good to ask him aboutPricing, profit margins, running out of cash, and a negotiation that is going badly.

Stefan Avivson

Founder and advisor

Started fifteen companies across Europe, America and Asia over twenty eight years. Sold five of them, lost two to bankruptcy, raised millions and lost millions.

Good to ask him aboutSales that have stalled, raising money that is not coming in, and a pitch that is not landing.

Guests change from camp to camp

What the fee covers

One price, and that is all of it.

  • The full camp, start to finish
  • Every meal, with the evening one cooked on the fire by a chef
  • The land, the camp and the firewood
  • Any camping kit a man does not own, got ready for him
  • The two guests, there for the whole time

The chef is Martin Price. He cooks privately for a living, and he is my brother. Dinner is cooked on live flame in front of everybody. Anyone who cannot eat something tells him beforehand and he cooks around it.

Four places on every camp

Pay what is possible.

Some men reading this are short of cash right now and already know the camp is the thing that would help. Putting £1,500 on a card this month would not be a sensible decision, and pretending otherwise helps nobody.

I have been there. A lot of help was given to me over the years by men who never asked what I could afford. Four places on every camp exist so that gets passed on.

The lowest is £200, which is what it costs to feed and house a man for the 27 hours. Above that, the number is between a man and his own honesty.

How to ask

Email me. Say where things stand right now, and how coming would help a man become the founder, leader and better man the next chapter requires.

The main thing I need from a man who wants transformation is commitment, not money.

Two dates

How to come

Three steps, and none of them is a payment page.

  1. 01

    Fifteen minutes with me

No pitch and nothing to pay. If the camp is not the right thing, I say so on the call.

  2. 02

    I say yes or no

Who else is there is the whole thing, so I decide one man at a time.

  3. 03

Sign, and the place is held

Signed online. The kit list comes straight after, with time to sort anything missing.

If the calendar does not load, book the fifteen minutes here instead.

Everything on this page, plus the kit list to tick off while packing, how to get there, and what to do if the weather turns. Six pages.

Questions

What men ask before they come.

Do I need to know anyone?

No. Most men arrive knowing nobody. That is part of why it works.

I am not an outdoors person.

Most are not. It is a walk over gentle hills, a night under canvas and a fire. Anything a man does not own is got ready for him. Ask for it here.

How fit do I need to be?

Fit enough to walk for three hours on gentle ground, with stops. No running and no climbing.

Where do I actually sleep?

Outside, in a shelter under canvas that goes up on the Friday afternoon. Anyone who would rather sleep in a comfortable yurt can hire one instead.

What if the weather is bad?

It still runs. Hills, weather and a night outside are part of what does the work.

Twenty-seven hours off the phone is not realistic.

Every man there runs a business that also cannot be left. It holds. Mine always has.
